Center for Birth and Growth Our premier maternity unit consists of 18 private Labor-Delivery-Recovery-Post Partum (LDRP) rooms, a transitional nursery and two fully equipped operating rooms all located on the secure 9th Floor of the Tower building at Altoona Hospital Campus. The cancer center provides the entire spectrum of treatments chemotherapy, radiation oncology and/or surgery from a highly qualified staff of medical professionals. More... Center for Cardiac Care A comprehensive line of cardiology services is available at the Center for Cardiac Care, including open-heart surgery, cardiac catheterization, implantable cardiac defibrillators, stents, electrocardiograms, trans-esophageal echocardiography, stress testing and rehabilitation. The echocardiography lab provides a full range of echo studies, such as transesophageal, pediatric, intraoperative TEE, stress and transthoracic. With Mini-Maze surgery, doctors are able to permanently break the circuit of atrial fibrillation, the most common type of irregular heartbeat, in an easy to perform procedure. Mini-Maze can restore normal heart function and help patients with atrial fibrillation maintain an active, healthy lifestyle free from most medications and coumadin. Imaging Services Should you require diagnostic X-rays, nuclear medicine, digital mammography, Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE) or ultrasound examinations, your physician will refer you to Imaging Services. The department is directed by a radiologist (a physician specializing in the diagnosis of disease by means of X-ray), who performs certain procedures, interprets your examinations and submits written reports of the findings to your physician. Your X-rays are taken and supervised by registered radiologic technologists. Imaging Services is equipped with Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and PET/CT, three of the leading technologies benefiting both patients and physicians. Then link to this page: Institute for Sleep Medicine The Institute for Sleep Medicine is a comprehensive program that treats all types of sleep disorders, especially snoring and sleep apnea, under the medical direction of a sleep specialist. The institute includes a sleep lab, where patients can be monitored during sleep for diagnostic purposes using computerized polysomnography equipment. In the morning, patients are treated to breakfast in the institute's hospitality room. The institute also runs a daytime sleep clinic, where patients are first assessed by a sleep clinic nurse and then evaluated by an institute physician to determine a plan of care. Patients are asked to return to the clinic after their sleep studies to discuss outcomes and treatment plans.
