Be sure to include relevant course work completed as well as internships or other pertinent work experience. We also need to know the date you will be available to begin your internship, how many weeks you will work and how many hours you would like to work each week. Internship start and end date: Varies Description of position including qualifications and limitations: Intern candidates must possess good writing skills; must be a junior or senior majoring in marketing, communications or an associated field, with sufficient understanding of basic public relations, communications and marketing principles and practices; layout and design ability with such applications as Adobe InDesign is helpful. Good time management skills and a professional attitude and appearance are a necessity. We will consider sophomore applicants who have completed adequate relevant course work or other internships. The intern will be responsible for reporting to work at agreed-upon hours, handling marketing and/or communications duties as assigned, being professional in dress and demeanor and adhering to all policies and procedures, including confidentiality. Interns will benefit from shadowing working professionals; assisting with the writing and design of newsletters, brochures and other publications; planning and implementing special events and assisting with media relations (writing press releases, public service announcements, etc.). Applicants must pass a writing test since the internship will include extensive experience in writing news releases as well as feature articles for publications.
